Day 12: Stripes (31dc2014)

It’s stripes day!  Originally, I felt completely uninspired.  My ideas were so bad that I contemplated painting my nails like Fruit Stripe gum.  I finally decided I would do something with my striping tape, but it was being unwieldy and getting on my nerves.   I finally just decided I would do some free hand stripes with Funky Fingers – Sand & Stilettos, a pretty thick holographic glitter polish.  Here’s my end result:

I started by painting the stripes on my right hand, so by the time I painted my left hand, I had gotten the hang of making nice, thin stripes.  It really was not very hard at all.  I’d love to try this look again over black or really dark blue or purple polish sometime.

This is one of those polishes that’s awesomeness just can’t quite be captured in a picture.  The blurry shot shows off the sparkle a little better.  These nails look SO FUN in person !  I’m really digging them and I’m going to be sad when it comes time to take these off.

Thanks for all of the love and support, likes and comments!  See you tomorrow!

  1. Your nail art implies you are set for Christmas shopping, presents and gift wrapping!
How do you get such “bang for your buck” from “Sand and Stilettos” when all it looks like “glitz gone wrong” when I use it? This combination looks perfectly lovely, such crisp lines and holiday combination of colors!
BTW, a few weeks ago I was near Danbury, CT and had called Five Below to ask whether they had a good selection of Fresh Paint/Funky Fingers and then when I got to the store a day or two later, there were four cartons of 50 cents polishes, stripers and other stuff so I nearly fell over scooping up stuff for myself and my granddaughters who summer near there. When I arrived, my oldest granddaughter said, “What, more polish” while the youngest one just grabbed the bags and went through the haul! By the end of the day, though, the oldest sheepishly said she was taking one of the bottles-not from a 50 cent carton-with a dark berry polish that must have been from this coming season’s line because a friend of theirs had had a tech use it the color on her toe nails the day before.
They had the comic collection set of very clear neonish primary colors for $3 (for the four bottle set) as well as other sets for that price including ready made-up nails for kids.
I thought of you in Danbury but you probably have even more stores wherever you are because only in Manhattan are there no suburban malls!
